We are currently looking at a options for restoring parts of the castle as part of a wider development programme to enhance visitor experience (and contribute to long term sustainability).

Armadale Castle, Skye: education and development projects

armadale castle archwayArmadale Castle, Gardens & Museum of the Isles on the Isle of Skye is the ‘spiritual home’ of Clan Donald. The 20,000 acre estate was formerly the seat of the Macdonalds of Sleat and is now run by a charitable trust, Clan Donald Lands Trust. The Trust was formed in 1971 to save the last remaining remnants of the once vast clan lands as a focal point for Clan history and activity worldwide.

The Trust is dedicated to promoting the history and traditions of the Clan and the Highlands & Islands. Tens of thousands of visitors each year are now able to enjoy and learn about Clan history by visiting the Armadale castle ruins, the beautifully restored historic garden, the informative Museum of the Isles and related Archive / Library. The Trust also runs education programmes with local schools and cultural events to promote the Gaelic traditional arts.
